With such reforms giving a boost to the drone sector and opening up the space sector for private participation, 5G has gained momentum in India, he said.

The COVID-19 pandemic should have been a wake-up call to the world. It has demonstrated the need for an institutionalized approach by the international community to help each other in times of crisis. Global organizations such as the United Nations can pave the way for taking resources to the last mile in each region. Hand-holding and technology transfer are also crucial in fighting climate change, suggesting that best practices can be shared to save our planet.

The Prime Minister emphasized the endless possibilities offered by geo-spatial technology. These include sustainable urban development, managing and mitigating disasters, monitoring the impact of climate change, forest management, water management, stopping desertification and food security. He hoped that this conference would be a platform to discuss the developments in such important fields.
