Chandrachud as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, sworn in on Nov. 9
New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu
on Monday issued an order appointing the new Chief Justice DY Chandrachud of
the Supreme Court with effect from November 9, 2022. "In exercise of the
powers conferred by the Constitution of India, the Hon'ble President has
appointed Supreme Court Judge Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the Chief Justice
of India with effect from November 9, 22," Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju
tweeted. On October 10, the Supreme Court had recommended the Center to appoint
Justice Chandrachud as his successor and the next CJI. Justice DY Chandrachud
will take oath as the 50th Chief Justice of the country on November 9. Chandrachud
is the son of long-serving CJI YV Chandrachud, who will serve as the Supreme
Chief Justice till November 10, 2024.

New Delhi: Justice DY Chandrachud has been recommended as the next Chief

profile picture. Full name is Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud. BA in Economics from
St. Stephen's College, New Delhi. Hons., Delhi University Campus Law Center for
the LL.B. degree and the LL.M. from Harvard Law School, USA. and S.J.D.
Graduated. He is the son of long-serving CJI Justice YV Chandrachud, born on
November 11 1959, Justice Chandrachud's mother was a classical musician. He
received an honorary doctorate in economics and mathematics and then a law
degree from the Faculty of Law at Delhi University in 1992 and a Master of Laws
from Harvard Law School. He became a Judge of the Bombay High Court from March
29, 2000 until he was appointed CJ of the Allahabad High Court. He was appointed
as a judge of the Supreme Court on 13 March 2016. Registered with the Bar
Council of Maharashtra, Chandrachud began his legal career mainly in the Bombay
High Court and the Supreme Court of India. In 1998, he was posted as Senior
Advocate and Additional Solicitor General of India. On March 29, 2000, he was
promoted to the bench of Bombay High Court and was the Director of the
Maharashtra Judicial Academy. He was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the
Allahabad High Court from October 31, 2013. Elevated as a Judge of the Supreme
Court of India on 13 May 2016, he is Visiting Professor of Comparative
Constitutional Law at the University of Mumbai. He was a visiting professor at
Oklahoma University School of Law, USA. lectured at the Australian National
University, Harvard Law School, Yale Law School and the University of the
Witwatersrand, South Africa; He has been a speaker at conferences organized by
United Nations agencies including the United Nations High Commission on Human
Rights, International Labor Organization, United Nations Environment Programme,
World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Covid-19: 2,060 new cases in last 24 hours across country, more than 10 deaths
New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, 2,060 new cases of coronavirus infection
have been detected across the country, taking the total number of infected to
4,46,30,888. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said that 5,28,905 people
have died so far with more than 10 deaths. According to the data available at 8
am, there are currently 26,834 active cases in the country, which is 0.06
percent of the total number of infected cases. National covid recovery rate is
98.75%. 10 more people died in 24 hours with 4 deaths in Kerala alone. The
daily positivity rate is 1.86 percent and the death rate is 1.19 percent.
According to the ministry, 4,40,75,149 people have recovered from the infection
so far in the country.
Corona Fluctuation: 116 people positive in the
state today including 84 in Bangalore; Death is zero
Bengaluru: The ups and downs of corona positive cases continue in the
state, 116 people have been confirmed as covid positive in the last 24 hours.
With this, the number of infected has increased to 40,66,929. Still no death
has been reported in the state due to the epidemic corona today. Thus the death
toll is 40252, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said in a release.
84 people have been infected in Bangalore today. With this, the number of
infected in the city has increased to 1873218. Health and Family Welfare
Department said that no death due to Corona has been reported in the capital
today. Today, 93 infected people have recovered and been discharged from the
hospital in the state. With this, the number of people who have recovered from
the infection has increased to 40,23,630. There are 3005 active cases.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: Money
deposited in the bank accounts of more than 50 lakh farmers of the state- CM

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai said that under the PM Kisan
Samman Yojana, money has been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 50
lakh farmers of the state. Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana, farmers
are getting Rs. 6000 subsidy will be given in three installments Prime Minister
Narendra Modi released the amount of 12th installment today, Rs 1007.26 crore
to 50.36 lakh farmers of the state. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai said in a
tweet that the transfer has taken place.
