Mulayam Singh Yadav, who passed away on Monday morning, will be cremated at his
ancestral village Saifai in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath said that the deceased will be cremated with full government
honours. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced three days of mourning for
the death of the senior politician. Many leaders and dignitaries, including
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have mourned the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Prime Minister Modi, who posted many
photos and tweeted, Mulayam Singh Yadav had a remarkable personality. Sensitive
to people's problems, he was humble and widely admired as a leader of this
soil. He served the people diligently. Loknayak JP and Dr. Lohia devoted his
life to popularizing his ideals.
Mulayam Singh Yadav distinguished
himself in Uttar Pradesh and national politics. He acted like a prominent soldier
of democracy during the Emergency. As Defense Minister, he worked hard for a
strong India. His speeches as a parliamentarian were insightful and emphasized
advancing national interests. I had many interactions with Mulayam Singh Yadav
Ji when I was Chief Minister of Gujarat. The close association continued.
Looking forward to hearing their views. I am saddened by his death. Praying
that God gives strength to his family and millions of supporters to bear his
loss.

Singh Yadav who entered politics from teaching career lives
LUCKNOW: Mulayam Singh Yadav, one of Uttar Pradesh's
leading political leaders, has served three times as the chief minister of the
state and also as India's defense minister. He was elected 10 times as Member
of Legislative Assembly and seven times as Member of Lok Sabha in his political
career.
He passed away this morning at
Medanta Hospital, Gurugram at the age of 82 due to multiple organ failure.
Mulayam Singh Yadav's son and current Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh confirmed
his father's death on the party's official Twitter handle.
"My respected father and
everyone's hero is no more," he wrote. Mulayam Singh Yadav was undergoing
treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram since August 22. His condition
worsened when he was shifted to the ICU and then to the CCU a week ago.
According to hospital sources,
Mulayam Singh Yadav was suffering from acute kidney failure which led to his
health imbalance. In such a condition, doctors kept him in the hospital on
continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) support and life-saving drugs,
keeping him on dialysis for some time.
Born on November 22, 1939 in Saifai
village of Itwa district in Central Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav received
his early education in Etawah. Later educated at Fatehabad and Agra. A noted
wrestler, Mulayam completed his higher education at Agra University after
completing his Graduation and Bachelor of Teaching (BT) where he obtained his
Masters in Political Science. Career Start as a Teacher: An astute politician,
Mulayam started his career as a teacher at Jain Inter College in Karhal, Mainpuri
district. He joined as a teacher in 1963 in the same school where he studied.
He used to teach Hindi and Social Science.
Influenced by socialist leaders in
the movement led by socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia in 1960, he was drawn to
politics. In 1967, he formally started his political journey by contesting
assembly elections from Jaswantnagar constituency and winning as an MLA.
Mulayam founded the Samajwadi Party
in 1992, becoming a 10-time MLA and seven-time MP, representing various
constituencies across UP. He rose to the post of UP CM for the first time in
1989. He served three terms as UP CM from 1989-1991. 1993–1995 and 2003 to
2007. He was the Defense Minister during the United Front government at the
Center from 1996–1998.
Currently, Mulayam Singh Yadav was
representing Mainpuri in the Lok Sabha as MP. The death of Samajwadi Party
patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was also the former Defense Minister of
India, is a great loss to Indian politics. May God rest his soul and give
strength to his family members," Congress wrote on its official Twitter
handle.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath has condoled
the death of the senior leader and paid tributes saying that the era of
socialist movements in the country has come to an end with his death.

Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji is very sad. His death marked the end of
a major pillar of socialism and an era of struggle. I pray to God for the peace
of the departed soul. My condolences to the bereaved family and supporters.
Cremation in Hattur: Mulayam Singh
Yadav's mortal remains will be brought to Lucknow and kept at the assembly and
SP office premises. The last rites will be performed at his hometown Saifai
village in Etawah
