India to upgrade Ladakh airfield for fighter jet operations

New Delhi: Amid reports that China is building new military infrastructure on its side, India will soon start work on upgrading its Nyoma Advanced Landing Ground for fighter jet operations less than 50 km from the LAC in eastern Ladakh, Indian army officials said on Thursday. Nyoma Airfield has been used for the transport of personnel and supplies during the border conflict with China. Also Chinook heavy-lift choppers and C-130J special operations have been conducted. The ALG will soon be upgraded for combat aircraft operations as most of the necessary clearances and approvals have already arrived. As per plans, construction of new airfields and military infrastructure will be done by the Border Roads Agency," senior defense officials told ANI. They said the inauguration of construction work in the eastern Ladakh sector is expected to begin soon after the Modi government gives clearance in the area. India is considering several options to develop airfields minutes away from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, including Daulat Baig Oldi (DBO), Phukche and Nyoma in eastern Ladakh.

Amoghavaras Puneeth as a simple person; Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar is also there in Gandhagudi!

Puneeth Rajkumar's last film Gandhad Gudi is nearing release. Puneeth and director, wildlife photographer Amoghavarsha JS are all set to feed the audience the rich flora and fauna of Karnataka in Gandhad Gudi, releasing on October 28. Speaking before the release, Amoghavarsha said, 'My natural history documentary Wild Karnataka got us talking. He has seen a lot of my work and I thought this project would be of interest to him.' Calling Puneeth a simple man, Amoghavarsha says, 'Usually stars are surrounded by people and on big sets. But Gandhad Gudi was a completely new experience for him. We were in a remote place where we didn't see many people. Navigating life without the support of mobile phones and internet is very new to them. "As a wildlife photographer and filmmaker, I have been doing this for over 2 decades and this is the first time I am traveling with someone as famous as Puneeth. However, I never thought he was a star. Because, they didn't act like that either. Anyone can be very comfortable with them.' Puneeth and I always wanted to do a film. We like to see it and are happy about it. We have not made this film for commercial purposes and Puneeth has not put any kind of pressure. To be honest, I remember saying to someone else that 10 to 11 people would be happy with this movie. However, it is mind boggling to see the loud publicity about Sandal Gudi. It only instills the belief that people will watch and appreciate this movie. Amoghavarsha says that honest cinema and pure intention will win. When asked that there is also news that Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar has given voice to Gandhad Gudi, he replied, 'Ashwini's part is surprising. It will be revealed on the release date. They have been part of the journey since the beginning. I met Ashwini and Appu together. He has also come to shoot. It is because of them that we are able to release this film as per the plans. He says that he and the Rajkumar family are the backbone for the film. Gandha Gudi will be released a day before Puneeth's first year anniversary. 'I will always remember Puneet as someone who was always smiling. Whenever he was around us we were happy. There will definitely be sadness. But he didn't want us to be sad. People who rush to see Gandha Gudi are happy to see him smiling. As far as I am concerned, we think the success of this film is that we all remember him happily and adopt some of his qualities in our lives,' says Amoshavarsha. Under the PRK production of Ashwini Punit Rajkumar, Gandhad Gudige has music by Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Prateek Shetty.
