Modhera (Gujarat): Prime Minister
Narendra Modi made a big announcement of Modhera village in Gujarat as India's
first (24×7) solar powered village.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a
three-day visit to Gujarat, laid the foundation stones of several development
works worth Rs 14,600 crore at Modhera. Modi will address public meetings ahead
of the state assembly elections later this year.
Addressing a public meeting in
Modhera, the Prime Minister said that Modhera, which is connected to the Sun
Temple, will be known for its progress in the field of solar energy. Today is a
big day for Modhera, which is moving towards using solar energy. Now we start
selling electricity. We earn from it. Some time ago, the government used to
supply electricity to the citizens. But now, citizens generate their own
electricity with the help of solar panels, he said.
The Prime Minister said that today a
new energy of development has spread in Modhera, Mehsana and entire North
Gujarat. From electricity, water, road and rail, several projects related to
dairying, skill development and health were inaugurated. He also said that the
foundation has been laid for many projects.
Modhera has been made the first
village in India to be powered by round-the-clock solar energy, including
developing ground-mounted solar power plants on residential and government
buildings and more than 1,300 rooftop solar systems.
PM Modi on a three-day visit to
Gujarat
Prime Minister Modi offered pooja at
Modeshwari Mata temple. Also visited Surya Temple and got darshan. The Prime
Minister will arrive at Amod in Bharuch district on Monday, where he will
inaugurate various projects worth over Rs 8,000 crore to the country. Modi will
inaugurate an educational complex-an educational complex for underprivileged
students- in Ahmedabad on Monday.
He will inaugurate and lay the
foundation stones of projects worth Rs 1,460 crore in Jamnagar on Monday
evening. Prime Minister Modi, who will address a gathering at Jamkandorna in

Rs 1,300 crore project at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. After this, he will
